Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Department provides services to parties interested in arriving at a settlement outside of the courtroom. These services, for both New Jersey and New York clients, include the following:

Mediation

It is often cost-effective for a client to retain one of our retired judges or trained mediators to mediate a dispute. A trained mediator negotiates with opposing parties in an effort to work out a settlement between or among the parties. Retired Judge Hon. Robert A. Longhi and Retired Judge Hon. Michael K. Diamond co-chair our ADR Department. Judge Diamond is a member of the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators. Judge Longhi is qualified as a Certified Mediator by the National Judicial College and also serves as the hearing official in police disciplinary proceedings.

Arbitration

Our ADR Practice Group has vast experience as arbitrators in disputes that require arbitration by agreement of the parties. Typically, the arbitration process is less formal and more cost-effective than a trial. The arbitration decision is binding on the parties.

Complex Litigation Management

In addition, Judge Longhi, Judge Diamond and Judge Vichness are all available to case manage complex litigation and to act as special discovery masters as well.
